A group of community members gathered on a monthly basis and when asked what they wanted to do in the community, the answer was to restore limu in Waimā
nalo Bay. It was the dream of community member Luana Albinio "to see the limu return to Waimā
nalo Bay like she remembers when she was a young girl. I want limu to be available for my grandchildren." With that being said, the rest of the group couldn't turn down her request.
We meet up with members of the 'Ewa Limu Project, Wally Ito, Pam & Dennis Fujii, who encouraged the group to move forward with what we wanted to do. The 'Ewa Limu Project members taught the group to wili lei with the limu in it and tie these lei to rocks to be placed within the bay. Since being taught, the Waimā
nalo Limu Hui has planted limu every month since November of 2017.
